Provincial Aboriginal Health Services

The province-wide delivery of health services is provided by B.C.’s health authorities. The responsibilities of the health authorities include planning the appropriate programs and services to serve the health needs of their geographic area, including those of the Aboriginal population.
Each regional health authority has implemented an Aboriginal Health Plan and also administers the Aboriginal Health Initiatives Program (AHIP). AHIP funding is targeted for promotion and prevention in the areas of mental health, addictions, and chronic disease management.
