How To Use This Website
There are many ways to find the information you are looking for on SeniorsBC.ca. This guide can help you get the most out of this website, even if you are new to using the Internet.
Search Box
There is a Search box at the top of every page in the website, next to the B.C. logo. Use the Search box to find information on a topic of your choice. Click in the Search box to type, enter the topic you want information about, then click the "Go" button or press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to see the results of your search.
Navigation Bar

Use the Navigation Bar located on the left hand side of the website to help find the information you are looking for. The headings in the Navigation Bar are also links. If a heading has an arrow next to it, that means there are subheadings underneath it. Clicking on headings with right facing arrows beside them will reveal the subheadings underneath. In this example, the "Finances" heading link has been clicked and the Finances menu is expanded. The arrow next to "Finances" points down and the subheadings underneath it are shown.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Click the Frequently Asked Questions link in the menu on the left of the site to find answers to the most popular questions asked on this website.
Site Map
To find information on a topic of your choice, try using the Site Map. The Site Map represents the left navigation bar with all the categories expanded, providing an overview of all the topic areas on the site.
Resources Page
The Resources page is like an online library with topics listed in alphabetical order. Click the Resources link in the left hand Navigation Bar or click here to view the page. Each letter at the top of the Resources page is a link, as shown in the example below. Click on a letter link at the top of the Resources page to view the resource links underneath it, or scroll down the page to find your information.

Links
Words on this website that are underlined are links to further information. Click on these underlined links to go to a different page in the website, or to a different website with more information about the topic. Links that haven't been clicked are blue and links that have already been clicked are purple. Click the link below to got to a new page, then click the link on that page to come back.
Text Size
In in the top right corner of SeniorsBC.ca are buttons to change the text size. Click the large "A" to increase the text size and click the small "A" to decrease it.
You can also change the text size using your web browser (the program you use to access the Internet). Internet Explorer and Firefox are two of the most common web browsers. To increase the text size using Internet Explorer, click View, click Text Size and click Larger or Largest, as shown below.
To change the text size in Firefox, click View, click Zoom and click Zoom In. Firefox also offers you the option to check Zoom Text Only, as shown in the example below.
Video
SeniorsBC.ca features videos on the home page. Click the "Play" button to start the video. Click the play/pause button again if you want to stop the video. Click the video timeline under the video to fast forward or rewind the video. Click in the volume area at the lower right to increase or decrease the volume, and click the fullscreen icon on the far right to change between fullscreen viewing and regular size.
BC Seniors' Guide
The BC Seniors' Guide is available on this website. If you are reading the Guide as an online book, click the arrows or anywhere in the grey edges of the pages to turn them, or use the controls on the bottom right of the screen to turn the pages. In the Table of Contents, click on the topic of your choice to go to a page with more information on that topic. Click once anywhere on a page of the Guide to increase the text size, and click once again to decrease it. To read the BC Seniors' Guide on our website, click here.
The BC Seniors' Guide is also available as a downloadable PDF in English, French, Chinese or Punjabi. You can read the PDF version online or save a copy to your computer.
PDF Documents
Some documents are this website are provided in Portable Document Format (PDF). To read a PDF document you will need to download the Adobe Reader program and install it on your computer. Adobe Reader is a free program and it will not harm your computer. The Adobe website will ask you to select your computer's operating system, your language of choice, and the version of Adobe Reader you want. Click "Download now" to get the reader, as shown in the example below.
