Supported Housing Options
Seniors’ Housing
Seniors’ housing comes in many forms, providing different levels of support.
- Supportive housing is designed for seniors needing minimal assistance in daily living.
- The Independent Living BC (ILBC) program provides a higher level of assistance, but not 24-hour support.
Seniors’ Supportive Housing
The Seniors’ Supportive Housing (SSH) program provides specially designed rental homes in subsidized housing, for low-income seniors who need some assistance to stay independent.
You may be eligible for Seniors’ Supportive Housing if:
- You need a modified home and support services to keep living independently;
- You don’t need permanent support that exceeds the limits of the SSH program;
- You can manage your own lifestyle, including reacting appropriately in emergency situations;
- Your behaviour won’t place you or other tenants at risk.
For more information about the Seniors’ Supportive Housing program, including application forms and a downloadable brochure, visit the BC Housing website.
In addition to housing programs, there are a number of Home and Community Care options available to those who are eligible.
